Village Links & Reserve 22
The Village Links/Reserve 22 operates four Village facilities, located on 280 acres south of Roosevelt Road, including the Village Links Golf Course, Panfish Park, Lambert Lake Nature Preserve and Co-Op Park. These properties serve as both recreation facilities and stormwater management facilities. This protects private property from flood damage, and protects the environment. All Recreation Department facilities are maintained and operated using user fees, without the use of any tax dollars. Please contact the Recreation Department at 630-469-8194 for information regarding Panfish Park, Lambert Lake Nature Preserve and Co-Op Park.
The Glen Ellyn Park District, DuPage Forest Preserve District, B.R. Ryall YMCA, School Districts 41, 87 and 89, and multiple churches including St. Petronille and St. James all provide recreation facilities in the Village. The Village of Glen Ellyn’s Recreation Department does not operate or maintain facilities associated with these organizations, and is a separate government entity from those organizations responsible for the care of these facilities. For more information on any of the above facilities, or any other recreation facilities within the Village, please contact the appropriate entity.
The Village Links of Glen Ellyn is a 27-hole public golf course located on 240 acres in the Village of Glen Ellyn. The golf course, which opened in 1967, features a championship 18-hole course, a regulation 9-hole course and a driving range. The top rated 7200 yard championship 18-hole course has long been recognized as one of the elite layouts in the Midwest, having hosted more than 35 USGA and PGA Tour Qualifyings. The regulation length 9-hole course is ideal for casual play. Extensive practice facilities, a large staff of PGA golf professionals, and gracious clubhouse hospitality complete one of the Chicago areas most popular golf complexes.
Like all Recreation Department facilities, the Village Links serves as a stormwater detention system. This dual use of the Village Links protects the Village from flood damage, protects the environment, and helps lower property taxes. For additional information, please see the Village Links website.
A sophisticated stormwater detention system is incorporated into the properties of the Village Links/Reserve 22. There are 22 lakes at the Village Links, one lake at Lambert Lake Nature Preserve and two lakes at Panfish Park. These lakes and the areas surrounding them are designed to hold stormwater during major rain falls. All of the lakes are connected by underground stormwater pipes.
During a major storm, the system is designed to hold stormwater and flood the Recreation properties. The stormwater is released downstream at a safe rate before any lasting damage is done to the golf course or other parks. This stormwater system detains approximately 30% of the stormwater that falls in Glen Ellyn and is the primary reason that the Village developed and operates these properties. The stormwater detention system is maintained and operated with golf course user fees.
